George Berry — Trombone
George Berry has been the second trombonist of the Greenwich Village Orchestra since 2005, serving intermittently as acting principal. He has performed with the Astoria, Bronx, Chelsea, One World, and South Shore symphony orchestras; the Orchestra of Saint Peter’s by the Sea; the Regina and Amore opera companies; and the Wagner Society of New York. George was principal trombonist of both the Newton Symphony Orchestra in Massachusetts, where he also performed with the Plymouth Philharmonic, and the Ash Lawn Opera Festival Orchestra in Charlottesville, Va. He has performed with the Curtis Symphony Orchestra and with musicians from The Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as in orchestras for more than 40 musical and opera productions, including Windwood Theatricals’ U.S. and Canada tour of Bye, Bye, Birdie. George is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Music. His teachers have included Mark Lawrence, Ronald Barron, Frank Crisafulli, James Gilbertsen, Michael Mulcahy, and Paul Bryan.
