Diana A. Yens, MD has been a violinist for 20 of her 32 years. Currently, she
enjoys performing with the GVO in addition to her ongoing professional life as a
rheumatologist. She was fortunate to travel to the South Seas, including the Cook
Islands, Australia and New Zealand in high school with her first community organization,
the Long Island Youth Orchestra. She has continued in that vein by joining orchestras
through her years undergoing education, with the Wellesley College Chamber Orchestra,
with the SUNY Stony Brook University-Community Orchestra during medical school, and
finally joining the GVO during residency training at St. Vincent's Hospital in the
West Village of NYC. Of note, her interest in the joint diseases of rheumatology
partially stems from her involvement with musician-patients with joint complaints and
the need to diagnose and treat this specialized category of patients. She is thrilled
to perform music with this challenging and fulfilling group while now in private practice
on the Upper East Side. Keeping music an active component through the different phases
of her life has kept her in touch with a wonderful community and herself.
