March 31st, 2007 - Application Deadline PURPOSE: To provide recognition to talented young musicians and a possible opportunity to perform with the Greenwich Village Orchestra on its Finale, Young Artists Showcase Concert, Sunday, June 10th, 2007, 3pm. Up to four (4) winners will also receive a $250 cash award in addition to the opportunity to solo with the GVO. ELIGIBILITY: Young musicians, whose birthday falls on or after December 31, 1989, and who live, work or attend school in New York. INSTRUMENTS: Keyboard, strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. No electronic instruments. REPERTOIRE: A selection not to exceed 25 minutes of a major work for soloist and orchestra, or a single movement from a larger work is also acceptable. No pop literature. Performers must provide their own accompanist for the application tape/compact disk and final judging. Musicians who are unable to provide an accompanist for the live audition should contact Ian Schaefer, Committee Chair, at (917) 749-0958, no later than March 31st, 2007. TAPE/COMPACT DISK REQUIREMENTS: Cassette tapes/CDs should be of high quality and must be a recording of the work to be performed in the competition with piano accompaniment. Cassettes/CDs should be mailed first class, UPS or Federal Express, and should contain the following: Cassette tape/CD without identification. 3 x 5 index card listing student's name, address and work to be performed.
